This 10-week paid summer programme will give you a unique opportunity to gain real-life finance experience in the UK’s largest retailer, a business that generates over £60bn of sales across the Group. There are plenty of opportunities to explore a wide range of finance disciplines whilst gaining an understanding of our business (supported by in-store experience).
It’s an exciting opportunity and more than just numbers. You’ll work collaboratively across our Finance teams and wider business to deliver a project, building valuable skills to support your future career.
Our Finance internship will give you an insight into the breadth of opportunities at Tesco and is a great way for you to understand how the world of finance works. You can also learn about the CIMA qualification, which you’ll work towards if you come back as a Finance graduate.
A successful internship with us can guarantee your place on our three-year Finance graduate programme when you graduate – before you’ve even started your final year of study.
We’re looking for individuals who are keen to learn and build new skills within our busy Finance team. You’ll need to be able to use the skills you’ll learn to help to solve business challenges and work collaboratively across the business.

Our leafy, green campus is 10 minutes' walk from the centre of Welwyn Garden City with its many shops, restaurants, pubs and sports facilities. Close to the A1, and with frequent trains running to Finsbury Park in just 20 minutes (free shuttle buses take you between the station and office), the campus is well connected to the surrounding area.
On campus, you'll find subsidised restaurants and coffee shops, as well as a Tesco Express to pick up your lunch or last-minute essentials. We also have our Heart Building, a place where colleagues can connect and come together, to unlock innovation and collaboration and a place where they can network and socialise. Plus we have an on-site Nuffield Health gym, which has state-of-the-art equipment, studios for classes, plus treatment rooms (membership costs £23.50 per month).
Welcome
We’ll kick off with you spending some time learning more about our business and your programme. It’s a great opportunity for you to meet other interns and make some new connections. We’ll then introduce you to your team, so you can get to know more about your role and the area you’ll be working in.
Programme structure
You'll start off by spending some time in store, where you'll get involved in what our colleagues do everyday to serve our customers and communities. You’ll then join your team to gain real-life experience in Finance as well as network, learn and develop your skills with other interns and colleagues throughout your programme.
Where next?
Throughout your internship, you’ll be encouraged to develop skills and gain experience that will support you in your future career. You’ll also receive valuable feedback on how you’ve performed during your 10 weeks to help understand your strengths and areas to develop further.
