Being an apprentice

At Tesco, we welcome diversity, individuality and uniqueness. We always want our colleagues to feel they can be themselves at work and we’re committed to helping them be at their best. We’re building an inclusive workplace, a place to actively celebrate the cultures, personalities and preferences of our colleagues who share the same purpose, to serve our customers, communities and planet a little better every day, and you’ll have a vital part to play.

You’ll be encouraged to try new things, push yourself and learn from mistakes while you get hands-on experience. You’ll also have paid, time out to study, so you can complete your apprenticeship. And, like all Tesco colleagues, you’ll have access to a wide variety of workshops and resources, to help you develop skills like resilience and adaptable thinking, as well as how to look after your wellbeing. And don’t worry, your colleagues will be there to support you throughout your apprenticeship.

Amy, our Finance Apprentice -
“I chose to do an apprenticeship rather than going to university as it gave me the opportunity to study towards a professional qualification whilst also getting on-the-job experience”

We're really passionate about supporting young people to find the right career path for them. We know some young people need a little more support to get on, which is why we recently launched our Stronger Starts Apprenticeships programme to give 150 young people from deprived areas the opportunity to gain a Level 2 National Standard in Retail, without any prior qualifications.
