LGBTQ+ Network
LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex) Network is one of the largest LGBTQ colleague networks in the UK with over 2000 members across the Tesco Group. We want to attract, support and develop our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex colleagues so that they feel confident to be themselves at work.
Women at Tesco Network
Women at Tesco have told us that they want to feel inspired and empowered to drive their careers forward. The Women in Tesco network champions gender diversity and promotes a culture of diverse and inclusive thinking, where women feel confident to share their views and articulate how they add value to the business.
The Armed Forces Network
We work hard to support colleagues and people in the Armed Forces community. We recently signed the Armed Forces Covenant which is a promise to the nation that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
Disability Network
The purpose of the network is to empower and inspire all colleagues with disabilities in their lives and aims to provide colleagues with the platform and a voice to make real change and show that everyone is welcome at Tesco. The focus is not only on supporting colleagues and developing talent but also supporting the business to be a proud ‘disability confident employer'. We’re really proud to have recently been accredited as a ‘Disability Confident Employer’.
Black Asian Minority Ethnic Network
BAME is a colleague network led by a steering group aiming to make a difference by raising awareness of diversity and inclusion within Tesco. We want to encourage and support BAME colleagues to develop their careers with us and let BAME people in the wider community know that Tesco is a great place to work.
Here at Tesco, everyone's welcome. Equality, diversity and inclusion is really important to us - whoever you are, wherever you work and whatever you do.
We’re all unique in ways you can and can't see and we aim to attract, develop and nurture talent wherever it exists and build great teams which reflect our local communities so that we can provide the best possible service to our customers. We're committed to creating a workplace where differences are valued, and make sure that all colleagues are given the same opportunities.
The people we meet each day make our lives interesting, whether we’re at work or at home. We know how important it is to network, so that’s why colleagues in Tesco come together to create networks where people can chat and find out how others manage their careers, meet people in different areas of the business or even just share ideas. Some of our key networks are highlighted above and include LGBTQ+, BAME, Women at Tesco, Armed Forces at Tesco and Disability at Tesco.
We also have The Family Network which is a community of colleagues created to support each other before, during or on return from maternity, adoption or shared parental leave. It’s a friendly environment to share experiences and learning, offer advice, discuss any challenges and help each other take advantage of all the colleague benefits. It also helps colleagues stay connected during the time they’re away from the office, and helps them transition back to work.
Many older people wish to remain in work or semi-retire and our customers really value older people's experience. Recently we have formed The Retired Colleague Community brought together by Alumni and Retired Staff Associations (RSA) which enables colleagues to keep in touch with Tesco during their retirement.
We recognise the importance of career sponsorship, mentoring and networking to support the development of talent wherever it exists and we want to encourage our colleagues whose background or ‘traditional’ role in society has the potential to create barriers.
Through our Regeneration Partnership stores, we guarantee a significant proportion of jobs for long-term unemployed people. This is in addition to the work we do to attract applications through Jobcentre Plus to all our UK stores.
